Q-Energy Innovator Fellowship

Q-ENERGY fellowship: Summer camp 2023 in Kagoshima.

2023/12/23

The Q-ENERGY Innovator fellowship is a program that supports doctoral students who are conducting research related to building a sustainable and carbon-neutral society. The program was established in 2021 and is coordinated by the Platform for Inter-/Transdisciplinary Energy Research. The fellowship provides opportunities for young researchers to connect with each other and experienced mentors through regular research meetings and seminars.

One of the most important events of the fellowship program is the summer camp, which was held from September 19th to 21st this year. The summer camp was a productive and creative retreat in different parts of Kagoshima prefecture. On day 1, we had a group presentation and poster session in Kirishima City. On day 2, we visited Kyocera Corporation’s newest research and development center. On day 3, we visited Yakushima island, known for its virtually 100% renewable electric grid. In particular, we visited two facilities of the electricity-producing company Yakushima Denko. Please check out the photos and summary video below to get a feel for the spirit of our summer retreat this year.

Take a look at this recap video that highlights the fun-filled adventures we had during our Summer camp this year! We are excited to welcome more students to join our fellowship program as we work towards expanding our knowledge and creating a sustainable, carbon-neutral energy society.
