| Title of the Research | Study of F82H Precipitates Amorphization in DEMO Reactor |
| Outline of Research | Fusion reactors are expected to be the next-generation power sources. In the conceptual design of the domestic DEMO reactor, the Reduced Activation Ferritic/Martensitic Steel (F82H) is the primary candidate material for the blanket first wall. One of the precipitates present in F82H is the Cr23-xWxC6 system, which has been confirmed to be amorphized under Fe3+ ion irradiation at temperatures relevant to fusion reactor operation, raising potential concerns regarding material degradation. This study aims to elucidate the structural changes leading to the amorphization process using molecular simulation tools such as first-principles calculations and molecular dynamics. |
