Title of the Research | CO2 Reduction Potential of Expanding Car Sharing Services |
Outline of Research | While it is important to change the way we use cars in order to decarbonize, there is little research on the environmental impact of car sharing services, which significantly change the way we use cars. We analyze how CO2 emissions in Japan will change when car sharing services become widespread, and make recommendations that will lead to global warming mitigation policies. This study applies a stock-flow model of passenger cars to develop a framework that can comprehensively analyze changes in CO2 emissions when car-sharing services expand, and quantitatively analyze the role of the car-sharing service diffusion in reducing CO2 emissions. |
