Title of the Research | High-entropy ceramics as new family of photocatalysts for hydrogen production and CO2 conversion: Ab initio calculations and experiments |
Outline of Research | The utilization of fossil fuels has caused global warming, and transportation is one of the most contaminated industries. Hydrogen utilization and CO2 conversion to functional products are two alternatives to reduce emissions. Both processes can be carried out through photocatalysis which uses light in the presence of a semiconductor to achieve a chemical reaction. Among several materials, high entropy ceramics demonstrated good properties as photocatalysts. Objective: A. Design new high entropy ceramics with outstanding photocatalytic activity. B. Clarify the mechanism of photocatalytic activity and band structure of materials C. Compare DFT calculations with experimental results |
