Title of the Research | The Economic and Environmental Impacts of Increasing Healthy Life Expectancy |
Outline of Research | As the proportion of elderly households increases due to the declining birthrate and aging population, the lifestyles of elderly households have become an important factor in the realization of a decarbonized society. If the healthy life expectancy, which has been actively promoted in recent years, is extended, the lifestyles of the elderly will change, which is expected to have an impact on CO2 emissions from consumption activities. This study aims to clarify the impact of such an increase in healthy life expectancy on future consumption-derived CO2 emissions, and to propose policies and technologies necessary to reduce the environmental burden while achieving an increase in healthy life expectancy. |
