Title of the Research | CO2 mitigation through global supply chain restructuring |
Outline of Research | Automotive industries have large CO2 emissions from their global supply chain. In order to realize a decarbonized society, there is urgent need for automotive industries to build a green supply chain, taking the opportunity of the restructuring of GSC in major countries caused by COVID-19. To build a green supply chain, it is important for an industry to identify the CO2 emission hotspots in the its GSC and to reduce CO2 emissions from these hotspots intensively. Therefore, this study develops a new frame work that can estimate the impact of the restructuring of Japan’s automotive industry which eliminates the CO2 emission hotspots on the global carbon footprint, and proposes appropriate climate policies for the restructuring to reduce comprehensive CO2 emissions from the newly reformed GSC of Japan’s automotive industry. |
