Title of the Research	Development and Empirical Analysis of a Comprehensive LCA Assessment Framework Considering Housing Stock Dynamics.
Outline of Research	CO2 emissions from the housing and building sectors in Japan are said to account for about 40% of the total. While various measures have been taken to reduce CO2 emissions, a detailed analysis of the dichotomous relationship between the reduction of CO2 emissions during construction and the increase during use by extending the service life of houses, and the increase of CO2 emissions during construction and the reduction during use by the spread of energy-saving houses has not yet been conducted. This study estimates the life-cycle CO2 emissions of Japanese housing as a whole, taking into account the life span of the building as a whole and the composition of the stock by age, and investigates the trade-off relationship that occurs with the proliferation of longer-lived and energy-efficient housing through scenario analysis.
