【CALL】Q-PIT AY2021 Support Program for Young Researchers and Doctoral Students

The Kyushu University Platform of Inter/Transdisciplinary Energy Research (Q-PIT) was established in accordance with the Kyushu University Action Plan. This platform aims to resolve global energy issues in association with promising researchers from various fields, from humanities and social science to natural sciences. Through the resolution of these issues, Q-PIT also aims to create a one-stop solution for energy research and education, and transdisciplinary projects to realize a future energy society that enables sustainable development. As a gateway to success, this program is targeting identification and support of young researchers and doctoral students who will play major roles in future energy research in society.

[Details of Application]
 Projects will be accepted in the following five research areas:
 Area 1: Energy Technology
 Area 2: Energy Systems and Management
 Area 3: Environmental Energy Issues
 Area 4: Energy Economy, Society, and Policy
 Area 5: Other Energy Issues

Ⅰ. Support for Young Researchers
 [Eligibility and Requirements]
 *The applicant must meet one of the following experience requirements.
 (a) 15 years or less since obtaining a doctorate as of April 1st, 2021.
 (b) 20 years or less since obtaining a doctorate as of April 1st, 2021, for those who have been unable to devote themselves to research due to childbirth or childcare within 15 years since obtaining a doctorate.
 (c) For those who have been unable to devote themselves to research due to care giving or the like within 15 years since obtaining a doctorate.
 [Number of Projects to be Adopted] ~10
 [Available Funds] ~ 1 million yen per project
 

Ⅱ. Support for Doctoral Students
 [Eligibility and Requirements]
     * Support is available to Doctoral students, as well as Master’s students expected to join doctoral programs.
     * If you have been previously supported by this Doctoral Support program twice, you are not eligible to apply a third time.
    
 [Number of Awards and Amount of Support]
            Gold Award: ~1 (500,000 yen)
         Silver Award: ~2 (400,000 yen)
         Bronze Award: ~5 (300,000 yen)
 Encouragement Award: ~20 (200,000 yen)

[Expenses for Research and Further Education]
 According to the rank of each award, expenses for research and further education will be offered to the laboratories to which the students who receive the award belong.
 Please note that there are no restrictions on the use of research and education incentives, but from the perspective of preventing the spread of new coronavirus infections, efforts must be made to properly execute the expenses under    the supervision of the affiliated laboratory.

[Application Deadline]   1:00PM Monday, July 12, 2021
*Documents must be submitted through the administrative office of the applicant’s department.
