Outline of Research |
Greenhouse gas emissions from ships, especially international shipping, have been a major factor in global warming and IMO set a goal to reduce GHG emissions from international shipping. Ammonia fuel is one of the next-generation marine fuels that realizes decarbonization. On the other hand, ammonia has strong toxicity. Hence strict measures are required in terms of risk management, and regulations regarding ammonia as a fuel are being developed. In this study, to present an evaluation index for rule development, we analyse the risk of ammonia leakage in the ship engine room and optimize the ventilation control in the case of ammonia leakage by numerical fluid calculation and model experiments. |
