Dr. Yoshihiro Yamazaki is Full Professor of Kyushu Univerisity Platform of Inter-/Transdisciplinary Energy Research. Dr. Yamazaki received B.S. (1995), M.S. (1997), and Ph.D. (2004) from Tohoku University. Before joining Kyushu University, Dr. Yamazaki was Assistant Professor of Materials Science and Engineering at the Tohoku University, PRESTO Principal Investigator, and Visiting Associate (Faculty) at the California Institute of Technology, USA. Dr. Yamazaki has received prestigious $4M CREST award (2018-2023) and $2M PRESTO award (2010-2016) from the Japan Society and Technology Agency, $500K Scientific Research (A) grant from the Japan Society for Promotion of Science (JSPS, 2015-2018), JSPS Fellowship (2006-2008), the 2005 Harada research award, the 2004 outstanding young investigator award from Japan Institute of Metals, the 2002 outstanding young scientist award from Aoba Industry Organization, and the 1999 Ishihara and Asada award from the Iron and Steel Institute of Japan. Yamazaki's research focuses on the multiple length scale ion, electron and electronic-hole transport characterization of metal oxides aiming for efficient solar-fuel and energy conversions, with a support of machine learning and ab initio calculations.
