Global ocean (60°S–60°N), NOAA OISST v2.1 via Climate Reanalyzer. Toggle layers, then export SVG or PNG for stacking in PowerPoint.
Tip for overlays: turn Axes & grid + Historic on and export the base. Then turn those off, enable one year at a time, tick Transparent background, and export each — every file shares the same canvas so they align exactly when stacked.
Leave Source credit on: it sits at the same spot in every layer, so it overprints exactly when stacked and keeps the data credit on any layer used by itself.
Dataset: NOAA Optimum Interpolation Sea Surface Temperature (OISST) v2.1 — daily mean SST,
0.25° grid, global ocean 60°S–60°N. Record begins 1 September 1981; the copy embedded here has
final data to 9 July 2026 and Climate Reanalyzer's preliminary values to
23 July 2026 — the latter are drawn as a dashed continuation of the 2026 line because
they can still be revised. Anomalies are against the 1991–2020 climatology.

This figure is a redraw, not their image. Climate Reanalyzer asks that the ClimateReanalyzer.org and dataset source labels stay visible on reused figures, or that credit be given if the image is modified. The chart here is rebuilt from the underlying daily series, so the credit line is drawn into the figure itself as its own Source credit layer — leave it on so it travels with every SVG/PNG you export. Layout, colours and year selection are this tool's, and any error in them is this tool's, not theirs.
Caveat: these daily values are estimates specific to OISST. Treat apparent records cautiously and compare against other SST products before drawing conclusions — see the NCAR Climate Data Guide on OISST v2.1 strengths and limitations.
